Vision 2017: Creating New Communities

Mike Jamieson, Design Director at TateHindle, presented Creating New Communities as part of the Housing & Urban Features seminar programme at Vision 2017 earlier this month at Olympia London. Chaired by NLA Chairman, Peter Murray, the seminar programme explored some of the critical issues for UK housing today.

Mike discussed how TateHindle is helping to establish a new community on the southern fringes of Cambridge, where the practice is working with Countryside to deliver 647 new homes at Great Kneighton. The recent completion of the development’s first phase provided a timely opportunity to reflect on some of the key features including the strategy to implement infrastructure and the provision of community amenities alongside a diverse mix of dwellings. A lively panel discussion explored the issue of building on the green belt versus developing brownfield sites and concluded the seminar programme. Further details on Aura here.
