Conceiving a residential-led development to integrate existing and new communities with the surrounding Kent countryside.

Main moves

We were invited by Countryside Partnerships to prepare designs for a new residential-led sustainable urban extension to Paddock Wood, Kent on existing farmland. The vision for the scheme is to create an attractive housing development with supporting services that integrates existing and new residential areas with the surrounding countryside. Taking cues from the vernacular of local agricultural buildings, our design offers a series of squares and courtyards to provide shelter, open spaces and a comfortable domestic environment. As part of a significant SUDs strategy for the development, a series of waterways meander through the parkland setting, providing visual amenity for residents while offering opportunities for landscaping and wildlife to prosper.
